Foreword

This book serves as a tribute to my mother. Growing up amidst uncertainty about belonging and enduring the presence of abusive family members can often leave one lacking in the healthy human interactions necessary for personal growth.

Using fiction to explore and convey truths about life and human experience is a powerful tool. Through storytelling, we create a narrative that not only honors our family, but also serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

To my mother:

Despite all obstacles, you successfully raised three children who have achieved success and strive to embody the love and gratitude you displayed. We now set off on our own journeys, three steps ahead. You've accomplished so much, and we want to congratulate you on your achievements. We love you.
